The adaptive reuse project entailed the acquisition of approximately 4.67 acres of land with an existing 71,000 square foot single story big box supermarket structure converted into a total of 45,000 square feet of space for a K-8 charter school for homeless children including 28 classrooms, library, commercial kitchen, multi-purpose room, elevator, parking and a play ground with a sports court.
The project is located on main transit line near I-10 freeway. While the building is not LEED certified, it incorporates many LEED concepts and best practices into the site plan and building construction.
